The Rev. Kellen A. Smith began his ministry at BMPC on July 1, 2011.
Kellen grew up in the seaside town of Delray Beach, FL, where since his youth, his faith was formed at First Presbyterian Church.
Kellen is a Magna Cum Laude graduate of Florida State University, having completed his B.A. in Humanities and serving as Student Chair of The Presbyterian University Center. He is a graduate of Princeton Theological Seminary, where he focused on preaching and contemplative spirituality. Prior to seminary, Kellen served as a Team Leader for Americorps and Director of Youth Ministries at First Presbyterian Church in San Antonio, TX.
Passionate about sharing Christ’s love with youth and adults, Kellen leads domestic and international mission trips to serve in such places as the Appalachian Mountains and Central America. Throughout the year, he organizes transformative retreat experiences. Kellen also offers pastoral care to families who face challenging circumstances. He regularly equips church volunteers for ministry leadership.
In ministry, Kellen enjoys preaching God’s word imaginatively, teaching the Bible creatively, and serving others compassionately. He is a Supervising Pastor for local seminaries and helps guide students through a congregational internship experience.
Kellen and his wife, Sarah, welcomed their daughter Hadley on Easter Sunday 2015. Together, they lead BMPC’s Upward Basketball Ministry. As a family, they enjoy taking long walks with their energetic yellow lab, Tanis.
