Youth from Grades 6-12 meet in Foerderer House for Youth Gathering at 10:00 a.m. Youth and adult volunteers join together in group games, musical worship, and a short homily from that day’s speaker, most often the Pastor for Youth and Their Families, Leigh DeVries.

September 2021

  • 9/19 First Youth Gathering, 10:00, Foerderer House
  • 9/26 Youth Kickoff, 11:15, Front Lawn

Confirmation is an exciting time in the life of our congregation’s 8th graders! Confirmands join the rest of the youth group for Youth Gathering on Sunday mornings, and then meet from 10:30 - 11:15 a.m. for an in-depth exploration of what it means to live into the baptismal covenant. Each Confirmand is paired with a Confirmation Mentor who walks with them throughout the year-long confirmation journey. Mentors provide spiritual, emotional and practical support along the way, alongside teacher Courtenay Wilcox and other fantastic small group leaders in the Confirmation program.

Worship Together Sunday

All families with children in Grades 4-12 are invited to Worship Together on the first Sunday of the month! Worship Together Sundays provide children and youth in Grades 4-12 an important opportunity to connect with the broader congregation and engage in Christian faith alongside their families. Youth take active roles in the service as liturgists and greeters. Teenagers may sit with their families, or with other youth and adult leaders in the left transept balcony.

Fifth Sunday Chapel Service

When fifth Sundays roll around the calendar, children and youth of all ages meet in the chapel for an interactive worship service designed to build connections across age boundaries, and generate new expressions of Christian worship and practice.
