Each day as I walk through the church campus, I am struck by the stonework on the buildings. I imagine the skill it takes fits each stone next to another. As I look at the stones, I am reminded of the early church. In the letter to the Ephesians, Paul tells the members of the church that they are being built into a new holy temple – a dwelling place for God. Peter describes the faithful as “living stones” brought together by God to create something new.
I am struck by the image, in part, because to be built into something greater, we must be connected. I wonder how you have found connection at BMPC? Was it through a bible study? A choir practice? A mission project? A friendly face at coffee hour?
As we begin the new year, there are many opportunities to connect. In Children and Family ministries we are excited about the continued work of Faith inbeTween, a group for parents of children in third to seventh grade that meets the first Sunday of each month at 6:30 p.m. (you can even join us this week at 6:30 as we talk about resilience and middle schoolers). We are also excited to see our newest group, Faith Under 3, a play group for parents and their children that meets on the third Saturday of the month at 10:00 a.m. to play and learn together.
As you look through the bulletin, there are a number of ongoing small groups, bible studies, and service groups you can join. There are also one-time opportunities where you can connect with your church family.
As the year begins, I am thankful for the church that God has formed with each of you and pray that we are built together to form an even stronger community.
