On Saturday, June 25 the BMPC Youth Ministry will take a group of middle schoolers to Johnsonburg Camp and Retreat Center. We'll have a day of fun, fellowship and play while giving our younger Youth members a taste of BMPC Youth Camp. This summer, BMPC Youth Camp is happening from July 31 to August 5, and we can't wait to take our middle schoolers and high schoolers to Johnsonburg again!
We began working with Johnsonburg Camp and Retreat Center last summer after Camp Kirkwood closed. Johnsonburg has been a great new location for us. This past March we offered two weekend trips to Johnsonburg, one for middle school students and another for high school students. During those weekends we delved into the theological impacts of the spiritual practice of the Sabbath. There were games, arts and crafts, small groups, music, and time for all of us to learn more about what it means to follow Jesus through the practice of Sabbath, and Johnsonburg was the perfect place for a weekend of fun and reflection.
This day trip will be slightly different from other Johnsonburg retreats in that we'll primarily focus on fun outdoor activities. Johnsonburg Camp offers boating and swimming options, hiking trails, and other fun events. We created this opportunity for our younger Youth members so they can begin learning about our annual BMPC Youth Camp program and get excited about attending the weeklong camp later this summer.
