Welcome

Live Music Abounds

Several months ago, Edward Landin Senn and I offered a three-week Facebook Live recital series on the BMPC Facebook page. For those unfamiliar with this concept, through Facebook, one can present a live concert online that may be viewed by anyone. You do not need to have a Facebook account to view these programs. Better yet, if viewers miss the live performances, they can watch a replay of the concert whenever it is convenient for them. In addition, video recordings of the concerts will be available on BMPC’s YouTube Channel. Much to our delight, nearly 5,000 viewers from all over the world watched this series.

Because of that success and the many requests we received asking for more programing, we spent much of the summer organizing a larger series – 11 concerts in total – that will feature a wonderful array of talented musicians, all of whom are faced with the loss of most, if not all their income, due to COVID-19. These concerts will afford us the opportunity to expand BMPC’s reach worldwide and help support a number of wonderful Philadelphia musicians.

We are pleased to present these concerts in both the Sanctuary and Chapel, showcasing the organs and pianos in both spaces, the harpsichord, and of course, our superb guest musicians. More details may be found on this webpage. We have tried to program something for everyone! So, you’ll hear remarkable music from all periods of music history, including works by Bach and Brahms. We will even present music from Venezuela when Patricio Acevedo comes to play the Venezuelan cuatro and guitar!

These concerts are offered Tuesdays from noon-12:30 p.m., beginning on October 6 and continuing through December 22. Be sure to read the BMPC eNews announcements for more information.

Mindful that the Psalmist asks us to make a joyful noise to the Lord, we are excited to take advantage of this strange time in our history and to do exactly that!
