Choristers: Grades Pre-K–12

Join the BMPC Children’s Choirs!
We’re building a joyful, faith-filled music community for kids and youth of all ages—from our youngest singers in Pre-K through 1st grade, to our Choristers program for 2nd–5th graders, and exciting opportunities for middle and high school students, too!

Music is a vital part of spiritual formation at BMPC. Our Children’s and Youth Choirs, also known as Choristers, nurture young voices while helping them grow in faith, confidence, and leadership.

Junior Choristers (Pre-K – Grade 1)
Wednesdays, 5:00–6:00 p.m.

  • Led by Devon Bakum, a VBC favorite, this joyful introduction to choir includes Christian music, hymns, movement, and foundational music literacy through age-appropriate play and learning. No experience needed—just a love of singing!

Choristers (Grades 2–5)
Wednesdays, 5:00–6:00 p.m.

  • Rehearsals begin in September and are led by James Kealey, BMPC’s Co-Director of Music. This group builds on foundational music skills through choral rehearsals that prepare children to lead worship throughout the year—including services like Christmas Eve, Ash Wednesday, and more.

Senior Choristers (Grades 6–12)
Various Seasonal Dates & Times

  • Also led by James Kealey, this seasonal choir meets throughout the year to prepare for special services such as Christmas Eve, Youth Sunday, Good Friday, and Missa Gaia. Youth develop music-reading and leadership skills in a faith-centered setting.

Free Group Piano Lessons for Choristers

Choristers are invited to participate in free group piano lessons in our brand-new piano lab! Lessons are available either 30 minutes before rehearsal (Piano Class A: 4:30–5:00 PM) or 30 minutes after rehearsal (Piano Class B: 6:00–6:30 PM), depending on what works best for your family’s schedule.

Additional Opportunities for Youth in Grades 9–12

Youth in grades 9–12 are warmly encouraged to join the BMPC Sanctuary Choir(link to sanctuary choir page), where they can grow musically by singing alongside experienced adult choristers.

Students who read music and are seeking more instrumental opportunities are also invited to participate in our intergenerational Handbell Ensemble.
