This coming Sunday is precious in the church's calendar year – Youth Sunday and the Souper Bowl of Caring! It is the one Sunday a year when our youth lead every part of the service. From ushering to preaching, each part of the service is led by a teenager. This service is one of the ways that Bryn Mawr Presbyterian Church communicates its profound value and respect for the young in our congregation, recognizing their ability and potential in worship leadership. We hope you can be here for this special service!
Our students have elected to focus on stories, with their sermons highlighting four different parables of Jesus. Our preachers will be seniors Finley Hoffman, Owen Yoder, Katie McGuirl and Kathryn Chang.
Our youth also help with the Souper Bowl of Caring food collection. For over 30 years, communities have come together on Super Bowl Sunday to give financial and non-perishable donations as a part of the nationwide Souper Bowl of Caring Food Drive. Ideal donations include:
- Peanut butter
- Canned soup
- Canned fruit
- Canned vegetables
- Canned fish or chicken
- Canned beans
- Breakfast cereal
- Pasta
- Rice
This year donations will be distributed among six of our partners from Lower Merion to Chester that serve the hungry in their communities. Those unable to bring non-perishable food donations this Sunday are invited to give directly to the Hunger Fund by donating online, using the white envelopes in the pew racks, or make a financial contribution after worship – our youth volunteers will have soup pots at the entrances of the church to collect your donations.
We hope you can attend in person this Sunday or via livestream to experience the worship service the youth have diligently prepared for our church community. And we hope you can bring donations for the Souper Bowl of Caring to participate in our call as Christians to feed the hungry. May God be glorified in our worship and service this coming Sunday!
