Next weekend Bryn Mawr Presbyterian Church will be welcoming educator and pastor, Ivy Beckwith. I hope you will be able to join us for this exciting opportunity. As a congregation, we promise to support each child at baptism. Next weekend will provide us with the tools we need to live into those promises.
The Rev. Dr. Ivy Beckwith leads the United Church of Christ’s Faith Formation program and has served churches in many different contexts. Her books, Formational Children’s Ministry, Post-Modern Children Ministry, and Children’s Ministry in the Way of Jesus help professionals and laypeople find new ways of engaging and equipping children in their faith journey.
Dr. Beckwith will be leading three different workshops. You are invited to attend one or all.
On Friday, Feb. 24, you are invited to gather for dinner at 6:00 p.m. If you are able, please bring a side dish or dessert to share. We will provide soup and bread for a fellowship dinner.
After dinner, Dr. Beckwith will lead a discussion of practices that form faith at home. Grandparents, parents, teachers and those who would like to think more about our children’s first experiences of faith are welcome to participate! Please RSVP to
On Saturday, Feb. 25 from 9 a.m. – 12 Noon, we will offer an interactive workshop looking at faith formation in the church. How do we teach children the story of God so that it becomes their own? On Sunday, Feb. 26, following the 10:00 a.m. worship service (at 11:15 a.m.) Dr. Beckwith will discuss what the future looks like for children today — what kind of church will they be attending in 20 years? How can we prepare children to be dedicated and compassionate Christians in such a context?
