Presbyterian Women Horizons Bible Study 

First Thursdays, September 2024-May 2025

In Let Justice Roll Down: God’s Call to Care for Neighbors and All Creation, author Patricia K. Tull calls us to care for neighbors and God’s creation with all our hearts, particularly for society’s least powerful members disproportionately impacted by unjust systems. Tull addresses issues of environmental, land, water, air, food, climate, generational, and economic justice. All are welcome.

 

Men’s Discussion Group

2nd and 4th Wednesdays, September 2024-May 2025

All men are welcome to join this study. This fall, we are discussing Noa Tishby’s Israel: A Simple Guide to the Most Misunderstood Country on Earth. Although this book was written before the current war with Hamas in Gaza, it provides background on Israel’s history and challenges to help us understand a common Israeli mindset.

Senior women and men discuss how our religious resources can address the public and private fears that may dominate our society’s life. Michael Kinnamon’s book, The Witness of Religion in an Age of Fear, explores how fear can dominate our public focus and how religious resources and our Christian faith can guide us in the public arena. Great Decisions

1st Mondays, September 2024-June 2025

Great Decisions is America’s largest discussion program on world affairs. Participants read articles by policy experts in the Foreign Policy Association’s Great Decisions Briefing Book, watch DVD presentations, and meet online to discuss global issues facing America today.

BMPC member Bob Martin leads our monthly discussions based on Great Decisions materials as well as information he and other members share with the group. This fall’s topics include: “Invisible Indonesia,” “High Seas Treaty,” and “Pandemic Preparedness.”
