The strength of our church community is integral to BMPC. The Senior Adult Ministry offers many informal opportunities to build fellowship and connect with others through speaker presentations, day trips, workshops, and social gatherings.
Programs and Day Trips
Philadelphia and the Delaware Valley are rich in history, culture, natural beauty, and resources to address current social issues. The Senior Adult Ministry sponsors a wide range of monthly programs and day trips for intellectual, cultural, and spiritual growth.
Our online and in-person programs include presentations by experts in art, history, music, and gardens, as well as practical topics like strategies for home down-sizing and family history projects. Experts in medical ethics, human trafficking, criminal justice, and African American history address some of today’s challenging social and political issues. BMPC staff and members also provide tours of the church’s beautiful stained-glass windows and magnificent sanctuary Rieger organ.
Recent day trips to historical, cultural, and natural venues have included visits to the Penn Museum, Eastern State Penitentiary, the American Swedish Historical Museum, the Masonic Library and Temple of Philadelphia, and Chanticleer, A Natural Garden.
Social Events
Each June, the Senior Adult Council hosts its Annual Spring Social—a wonderful opportunity to celebrate our senior members and the end of the program year. Dozens of BMPC members gather to enjoy warm spring weather, appetizers, desserts, and, most importantly, fellowship at the historic Merion Tribute House. All members aged 55 and older are invited to join in this special event.
BMPC is blessed to have many members who joined the church 50 or more years ago. We deeply appreciate their commitment to the church, its ministries, and its mission, and we celebrate them with bi-annual luncheons. This is a special opportunity for long-time congregants and families to share memories and witness the growth of our church.
